Välkommen to the City of Olsburg

Founded in 1880 by Swedish and Norwegian immigrants, The City of Olsburg, Kansas became an incorporated city 46 years later on May 15, 1926.

Olsburg has a population of 220 people and is growing.

There are two housing areas that have been added to the city over the past 17 years. In 2005 the Holt Addition opened with lots for approximately ten homes. In 2019 the Greenwood Addition was added making approximately 25 lots available. Six new homes have welcomed new residents to the community since then.

The future is full of possibilities for the Olsburg community! Located just 22 miles north of Manhattan, Kansas and just eight miles east of Tuttle Creek Reservoir, Olsburg is uniquely situated to offer fishing, hunting, and outdoor experiences as well as great event venues, two restaurants, and over 30 businesses offering everything from gifts to gravel.

Dala Horses, the most recognizable symbol of Swedish heritage, are displayed around town, each one painted and decorated by some very talented locals. The Dala Horse project began with a generous donation in 2021 for the purchase of urethane/fiberglass Dala Horses. Twenty-five were purchased initially and then an additional five. Production began in June of 2021 and the unpainted forms delivered the first of August 2021. They were top coated before being distributed to each business to design and paint. By 2022 they began popping up around town! There are now over forty Dalas displayed in the Olsburg area. For more information about the Dalas and a description of each one, please click here

When visiting Olsburg you will also see a number of Barn Quilts displayed on buildings in town and some residences! Most are painted by the residents themselves and some are painted by a local Barn Quilt enthusiast. A number of these quilts are listed on the Kansas Barn Quilt Trail.

Make a trip through town to see both of these amazing works of art!
