Olsburg is community founded in 1880 by Swedish and Norwegian immigrants, located just 22 miles north of Manhattan, Kansas and just eight miles east of Tuttle Creek Reservoir. Olsburg City Council Vacancy

Position Applications Taken Immediately

If you have an interest in serving the Olsburg community, consider joining the Olsburg City Council. Due to a resignation on the Council, the City will appoint a new Council Member as soon as possible.

This vacancy is a half-term (two year term) ending in January 2028. If the individual wishes to run for election they are eligible to do so in the 2027 General Election. 

What is expected of a Council Member?

  • Attend monthly Council meetings, and occasional Special Meetings or Work Sessions
  • Regards the best interest of the entire community over self interests
  • Demonstrates a willingness to work with differing opinion to find common ground

Interested individuals must meet these requirements: Must reside within the city limits of the City of Olsburg; Must be a register voter in the State of Kansas; Must be 21 years of age or older.

Those applying to fill the position will be interviewed and considered for the position by the sitting Council Members. A majority vote of the Council Members determines who will complete the vacant term and then the Mayor appoints the choice of the sitting Council Members. The term will begin immediately upon appointment. 

If interested please complete and submit the a City Council Position Application and return it to City Hall by 12 noon on August 3rd, 2026.
